Primary Function of Position:
The People Solutions/Geo HR Leader is a client-facing role that is the face of HR for Japan Market – including all commercial, non-commercial / enabling functions across a large geographically dispersed geography with multiple sites. This role serves as the HR Leader on the Japan Leadership Team, and also serves as a member of the Asia HR Leadership Team. This role will work closely with Centers of Expertise (COE) and HRBLs to ensure successful execution and delivery of agreed upon strategies and processes. The People Solutions HR Partner will utilize HR expertise plus geo/BU/ function-specific knowledge to solve talent-related problems, deliver recurring HR programs, and support special initiatives across the business.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- HR Leadership for all Japan office locations in support of Japan President and Japan Executive Leaders across a geographically dispersed employee base.
- Act as a dedicated resource for Japan Market with expertise in two-three specific areas of HR (e.g., Total Rewards, Talent Management, Training, Performance Management, On-boarding, Team Effectiveness) providing targeted support for HR strategies and programs developed by COE partners and/or broader HR initiatives.
- Oversee the execution of day to day operations of HR in support of the employee life cycle – payroll, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, development, mobility, performance management, exiting.
- Facilitates market capabilities planning, workforce strategies, planning and execution in service to the strategic business goals.
- Ensure quality execution of HR solutions, services, and change management at the local level.
- Leads a positive employee relations environment through local employee engagement, employee relations, culture, compliance and regulatory efforts.
- Manages and executes payroll and benefits services including supporting/managing local vendor relationship including technology and process improvement initiatives to reduce manual work.
- Interacting with worker’s council and government ministries
- Supporting coordination of onsite HR activities
- Designing & executing programs that are required but limited to local site only (excludes corporate programs)
- Overseeing activities that require specialized and deep local knowledge, expertise and presence (e.g., labor and employment laws, regulations, exit compliance)
- Providing local / regional insights to COE for program offering, development, communications, metrics and local-specific vendor relationships
- Acting as an organizational health and talent steward, provide insights and guidance
- Service as connection point to COEs to customize solutions and programs, as needed, to meet business needs.
- Together with local/site HR, deliver recurring HR services and core process execution generated from COE and HRBP.
- Deliver expert coaching and consulting to senior management and employees to drive a high-performance culture on a global level.
- Improve manager capability through coaching and facilitation of various training programs to build capability across client groups/regions.
- Support change management and organizational development strategies that influences organizational change in support of business strategies.
- Ensure delivery of a sustainable, consistent employee experience that is aligned with the HR strategy and employee value proposition.
- Continually ideate around how to make incremental changes to services and processes in response to evolving business needs.
- Determine appropriate KPIs and/or other metrics to measure effectiveness of People Solutions.
- Understand business requests and strategize on the execution of these solutions with other HR leaders, as needed, to determine best solution and course of action.
- Continuously monitor performance of HR programs locally and be the voice of business with COEs providing real-time feedback, when needed.
- Ensure transparency of information for continuous improvement within the HR Community
- Effectively communicate change (in partnership with comms team) across all levels and areas of the business.
- Acts as local “face of HR” for locations with large employee populations providing feedback and input when necessary and escalating issues, as needed.
- Leverage technology and defined process to deliver services globally and is able to effectively localize and contextualize to ensure service delivery locally.

Experience, Education, & Training: - 12 + years of experience in Human Resources in a client-facing role.
- 12+ years of experience working in a global and distributed, highly matrixed work environment
- 12+ years of experience in an HRBP and/or COE role – working knowledge required to apply COE interventions
- Experience working in a shared service environment, preferred
- Experience with project management
- Experience with organization transformation, process harmonization, global/localization of systems and practices and integrations
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or HR-related field, Masters/MBA desired
- Language: Native Japanese and English fluency
- Title of labor and social security attorney is preferred
