Job Description
Title: Supply Chain Operations, Leader
Location: Tokyo
Reports to: Director of SC, IT and Product Operations
General Summary
This position is responsible for managing activities of product distribution of imported/exported /domestically manufactured products from/to overseas factories and customers, through warehousing to the customers with efficient, cost effective, and high-quality operation.
Addition to the logistic management, takes a role as one of senior management of Supply Chain.
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensure process consistency and build functional capabilities and implement continuous improvement methodology to enhance all aspects of the supply logistics.
- Monitor production, import logistics, and all aspects of order execution to ensure on-time delivery and supply continuity.
- Responsible for distribution to both wholesalers and retailers located in Japan, Korea and Australia.
- Develop KPIs internally for the section and for subordinates to drive improvement and maintain a high level of quality (including Kaizen approach).
- Implement analysis and action plans to address cost inflation and optimize costs throughout the supply chain.
- Create and analyze various reports for the continuous improvement of quality and other metrics.
- Support forming divisional strategic objectives, operational decision appropriate in daily logistics and import/export activities
- Communicate fully and proactively with the Planning and Procurement team and all other internal customers to achieve efficient product supply.
- Drive continuous improvement in logistic processes, and their supporting systems. Also, manage associated changes from current methods to new ones.
- Maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting imports and exports, country of origin, product labeling, and all other requirements that may impact legal compliance or product supply.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team. Establish and attain annual performance goals. Conduct yearly performance appraisals and establish written personal and professional development plans for each staff.
- Experience with ERP is critical for the success of the right candidate.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and ability:
- 3+ years experience in Operations / Supply Chain Management, in particular, Logistics, 3PL warehouse management, Production Planning / Management, Procurement, Inventory Management fields in globally operating food or First Moving Consumer Goods Company.
- Understanding of the latest trend and best practices in Supply Chain Management
- Action oriented and highly committed to deliver productivity and lead cross functional projects to drive business.
- Knowledge and experience in ERP (e.g. Oracle, SAP, JDE, Dynamics AX), Supply Chain Planning system.
- Change Management experience with demonstrated leadership.
- Leadership to constantly deliver results and problem-solving.
- Willing to champion the right decision and not be easily dissuaded.
- Project management experience under a multi-national /- cultural environment.
- Adaptability / flexibility to new environment and priority / time management capability.
- Capable of identifying problems and seeking appropriate resources for solution.
- Understands situations requiring escalation or need to seek out assistance.
- Strong analytical, negotiation skills, interpersonal and communication skills
- Customer oriented and ability to adequately manage trade-offs (e.g. Cost vs. Service level).
- Adaptability / flexibility to new environment and priority / time management capability.
- Ability to problem solve and implement solutions with management support.
- Ability to work well both independently as a self-starter and a playing manager, and within a cross-functional team as a team player.
- Ability to effectively develop subordinates through coaching, training
- Ability to deal with higher level mathematics and statistical analysis.
- Effective English oral and written communication skills. TOEIC score at 800 points (minimum) or above is preferable.
